Carolyn L. Wheeler, 69, of Lincoln, passed away on October 28, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones. Carol was born June 20, 1954 to Carl & Shirley (Hipsley) Strom in Omaha, NE. She was the middle child of three. She attended Lincoln East High and went on to work for Lincoln Public Schools for many years - most recently as a paraeducator at Norwood Park Elementary, retiring in 2019. Caring for children and helping others was her passion and she did it so well.
Carol was always smiling. Her smile lit up the room. She had a strong spirit and the kindest heart. She cared for those she loved like no other and always put others needs before hers. She was a fighter and fought until the very end. An amazing wife, mother, and friend, her proudest role in life was being “Mimi” to her three grandsons. They were her most special gift and she cherished every moment she had with them - even playing cars with her youngest grandson right up until the very end. She will be missed deeply by everyone around her. She lived life to the fullest and encouraged everyone to do the same.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Bill Wheeler; her twins - son, Michael Wheeler and daughter Molly Skiles, son-in-law Caleb Skiles and grandchildren, Jonah, Ezra & Samson Skiles. Siblings, Sue Ann Strom, and Wally (Roxy) Strom. Sisters-in-law Debbie Wheeler, Janet Wheeler, Bonnie Wood and Loretta Binder-Wheeler. Brothers-in-law Neal Binder-Wheeler and Bill Stillwell; niece Robin Stillwell; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her infant son; her parents; and her niece, Kayla Strom.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln 68510. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorials are suggested to the Friendship Home, Food Bank of Lincoln or People’s City Mission. https://www.bmlfh.com/obituary/carolyn-wheeler
